TECAR therapy is an equipment-based modality that transfers energy to tissues to support rehabilitation. It is used within an overall, assessment-led care plan — not on its own. [VERIFY the device and availability before publishing.]
TECAR (Transfer of Energy Capacitive And Resistive) therapy uses a device to deliver energy to tissues, producing warmth that may be used to support comfort and prepare tissues for exercise and manual therapy.
Why it may be considered
A clinician may consider TECAR for selected musculoskeletal presentations, alongside exercise and other care, where assessment suggests it is appropriate. It is one option among several.
Common reasons people seek assessment
These are reasons to seek a professional assessment — not a promise that a specific treatment will suit everyone.
Selected musculoskeletal pain or stiffness
As preparation for exercise or manual therapy
As an adjunct within a rehabilitation plan
When a non-invasive modality is being considered
How it generally works
During a session, a clinician moves an applicator over the treatment area while energy is delivered, usually producing a comfortable warmth. Sessions are combined with exercise and advice, and your response is monitored throughout.
What an appointment may involve
1
Assessment to determine suitability.
2
Explanation of the modality and expected sensations.
3
A guided TECAR session combined with your plan.
4
Review of your response and next steps.
Precautions & when further assessment is needed
TECAR is not suitable for everyone. It is generally avoided with certain implanted electronic devices (such as pacemakers), over areas of malignancy, in pregnancy over the area, over areas of impaired sensation or circulation, and in some other situations. Contraindications and precautions follow the device’s instructions for use and appropriate clinical guidance. We do not claim TECAR heals tissue, permanently removes pain, or works for everyone.
TECAR therapy is commonly described as working through two modes of energy transfer — capacitive and resistive. In broad terms, these modes direct energy toward different tissue types to produce warmth and support the body’s normal processes during rehabilitation.
We describe TECAR only in general terms consistent with verified device documentation. Specific mechanisms, settings and parameters are confirmed against the manufacturer’s instructions for the actual device used at the clinic. [VERIFY device brand/model and documentation.]
The role of assessment and a broader plan
TECAR is not a stand-alone cure. It is used as one part of a wider, individualised rehabilitation plan that typically includes exercise and advice. Whether TECAR is appropriate — and how it fits your plan — is decided after assessment.
